Voters can <a href=\"https:\/\/geohub.austintexas.gov\/pages\/council-districts-and-jurisdictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">check their council district online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Southwest Austin voters have a choice between two candidates, Jeffery Bowen and Selena Xie, in the November 2026 election. Longtime council member Paige Ellis will leave office in January 2027 after reaching her term limit and <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/east-austin\/election\/whos-running-for-austin-city-council-5-races-set-for-november-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">unsuccessfully petitioning<\/a> to run for a third term. Ellis was <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/southwest-austin\/news\/paige-ellis-wins-district-8-austin-city-council-runoff-liberal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">first elected to office<\/a> in a 2018 runoff and was <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/southwest-austin-dripping-springs\/election\/incumbent-paige-ellis-wins-austin-city-council-district-8-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">re-elected in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What you need to know<\/p>\n<p>Candidates were asked to keep Q&amp;A responses within 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents.
