The Public Works Department\u2019s Stormwater Division has completed Marquis Circle Drainage Improvements Project. This $2.2 million drainage project reduces the flood risk for homes in the area. The project area was bordered by West Arkansas Lane to the north, Perkins Road to the east, Waterview Drive to the south and Lake Arlington to the west in West Arlington.<\/p>\n

Key project improvements included:<\/p>\n


\nStorm drain installation
\nSanitary sewer installation and maintenance
\nLimited water line relocations
\nLimited asphalt paving
\nConcrete driveway paving <\/p>\n

The project included upsizing existing storm drainage infrastructure, replacing and rehabilitating sanitary sewer facilities in the area, and replacing a failing storm drain outfall to Lake Arlington.\u00a0 The improvements will capture more stormwater runoff within the City\u2019s right-of-way and will decrease flooding risk for homes in the area<\/p>\n

The work for this project began in March 2026 and was completed in September 2026<\/p>\n

This project supported the Arlington City Council\u2019s priority to Strengthen Our Communities and was part of the City\u2019s Capital Improvements Program for Stormwater for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. This project is part of the City\u2019s efforts to mitigate neighborhood flooding and improve drainage infrastructure. The funding was provided through the Stormwater Utility Fund, Street Maintenance Fund, and water and sanitary sewer bonds.<\/p>\n

Since 2009, Arlington has invested more than $200 million on the Stormwater Capital Improvements Program, which includes flood mitigation, protection of City infrastructure from erosion, voluntary flood buyouts, the purchase of technology assets, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure.<\/p>\n
