So why is Dallas-Fort Worth still on a 57-day dry streak?"},"content":{"rendered":"
Dallas-Fort Worth got rain on Thursday, but the dry streak is still going. North Texas has now gone 57 consecutive days without measurable rainfall, even after scattered storms moved through parts of the region. The National Weather Service says measurable precipitation is more than 0.01 inches of rain. Anything below that is counted as a trace and does not break a dry streak, which is why Thursday’s rain did not end it. For the region’s official climate records, DFW International Airport is the site that tracks measurable rainfall. It has not recorded measurable precipitation since July 15, according to National Weather Service records. That puts Dallas-Fort Worth at the 5th longest dry streak on record, and the region first reached the top 10 on Aug. 30. Some storms also brought rain to Palo Pinto County, where the Ross fire continues to burn. The drought is spreading across North Texas. Dallas County is now in severe or extreme drought, nearly 14 percent of the state is in extreme drought, and 3.42 percent of Texas is facing exceptional drought, the highest ranking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dallas-Fort Worth got rain on Thursday, but the dry streak is still going.
