Trader Joe\u2019s wants to bag\u00a0another retail site in North Texas amid its ramp-up in the Dallas region.<\/p>\n
The grocer is planning a new store in\u00a0Plano<\/a> on Preston Road near an intersection with Spring Creek Parkway, according to a filing with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The \u201cinterior build out\u201d of a retail store is set to begin at the end of this year.<\/p>\n The project, with an estimated cost of $900,000, would cover about 12,500 square feet. Details in\u00a0TDLR filings are subject to change without notice.<\/p>\n \u201cWe do have plans for a new Trader Joe\u2019s store in\u00a0Plano,\u201d said Nakia Rohde, spokesperson for the company, while adding the company does not have any additional details to share.<\/p>\n The new site would be roughly across the street\u00a0from an\u00a0H-E-B<\/a>, the chain\u2019s only namesake in the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n The new Trader Joe\u2019s also would be near an existing store on Preston Road near the intersection with Park Boulevard, with the sites being separated by more than about 2 miles. The company recently added another a second site to McKinney<\/a>, which is located about 5 miles from the older Trade Joe\u2019s.<\/p>\n The company continues to invest in the region as it faces competition from others that are investing in new stores around the region, including\u00a0H-E-B<\/a>, along with Walmart, Kroger <\/a>and Aldi.
