His home sits next to a Union Pacific rail line where vegetation had become so overgrown that it was pushing up against not only his fence, but also several others.

When 2 Helps You first reported on the issue in July, Union Pacific responded quickly as crews cleared the vegetation along the railroad property within two weeks.

However, this wasn’t the end of the problem for Garza.

The overgrowth had damaged portions of his fence, leaving him needing help to stabilize it.

That’s where Mustang Fencing stepped in after contacting 2 Helps You.

They came out to examine the fence line and see what they could do. Ultimately, it was determined they could not replace the entire fence because of the length of the fence line, but the company offered to stabilize the existing fence. Mustang fencing also put back one section that was completely off its foundation.

Workers spent a day reinforcing some of the posts with concrete and helped straighten posts that had begun leaning.

“That’s a big help. We appreciate anything that they can do for us,” Garza said.

But during 2 Helps You return visit it didn’t take long to see the vegetation along the railroad tracks already was growing back, fast and high.

For Garza, the concern isn’t simply about how the area looks, “That I am going to have another problem with the vegetation going up against my fence again and start damaging my fence again,” Garza said.

2 Helps You contacted Union Pacific about the returning vegetation.

The rail company said in an email statement, “Vegetation management is an ongoing process along Union Pacific’s rail corridors. Maintenance is based on conditions and operational needs. We understand the concerns of affected property owners in the Shady Creek Court area and will continue to monitor”

For Garza, and others we spoke with, the hope is that continued monitoring will prevent the vegetation from once again becoming a problem for his property.

In the meantime, the longtime neighborhood resident was grateful of the in-kind contributions by Mustang Fencing.

Remember, if you have problem need help resolving?
