LCU drops to 3-9 all-time in the crossover games. In 2022, LCU was 0-3 in San Angelo, 1-3 at home in 2023 (serving as a host of the event), 0-2 in 2024 in Laredo, Texas, 2-0 last season in Oklahoma City, Okla. and 0-2 this season in San Angelo. A major factor in that stretch has been the efficiency of the opposing defenses on their own hardwood. Across the three true road matches—including battles against national powerhouses No. 13 Barry and No. 9 Angelo State—host teams have held LCU to a combined .066 attack percentage while countering with a .298 clip of their own. Facing a heavy dose of premier, top-tier blocking and defending, the battle-tested Lady Chaps will look to settle into an offensive rhythm and tilt those statistical scales back in their favor as the schedule shifts toward conference play.

» Saturday provided LCU their fourth nationally ranked opponent over a six-match stretch. The Lady Chaps previously faced No. 1 St. Cloud State, No. 21 Lynn and No. 13 Barry during the Barry Invitational and following Saturday’s game against No.9 ASU, LCU moved to 0-4 against nationally ranked teams this season. LCU continues to seek its first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 25 West Texas A&M on Nov. 6, 2021, in Lubbock. The Lady Chaps have dropped 11 consecutive matches against nationally ranked opponents.

» The loss was LCU’s first loss this season not in straight sets, as the four-set loss has LCU 1-1 in four-set decisions this season.

» LCU and Angelo State 39th time all-time.
