Mr. Garcia told the person he thought was a child that he knew their underage status and expressed a desire to commit sexual crimes, according to police.

Police say Garcia traveled to Santa Fe to meet with the child after arranging to pay for sex. Once in Santa Fe, detectives initiated a traffic stop, but Garcia fled.

Officers used a PIT maneuver to catch Garcia, forcing his car to spin out on the side of the road.

Garcia already had a warrant out for his arrest in Illinois for sexual assault. He is now booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center.

WATCH: Santa Fe police chase down Texas man wanted on child sex crimes Sting operation leads to a…

[6
68223,150806,75673,150805,150809,34794,150807,150803,1014,2817,150808,3174,14972,150801,150804,150802,27,29,27508,28,11041
post-434367","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-texas","tag-car-chase","tag-child-sex-crime","tag-child-sex-crimes","tag-child-solicitation","tag-children-detectives","tag-collaboration","tag-criminal-investigations-detectives","tag-gabriel-garcia","tag-illinois","tag-officer","tag-patrol-section-personnel","tag-road","tag-santa-fe","tag-santa-fe-police","tag-santa-fe-police-chase","tag-sting-operation","tag-texas","tag-texas-headlines","tag-texas-man","tag-texas-news","tag-traffic-stop
["GET
