HOUSTON \u2013 A Houston woman who threatened a federal agent with a machete back in 2025 has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.<\/p>\n
According to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office, Jennifer Jesselle Perez-Rodriguez, 29, pleaded guilty June 11.<\/p>\n
U.S. District Judge Sim Lake ordered Perez-Rodriguez to serve 14 months in federal prison to be immediately followed by three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n
The incident happened in April 2025 near Milan Drive and East Anderson Drive as federal agents concluded a welfare check for unaccompanied children at a nearby trailer park.<\/p>\n
On April 17, 2025 members of law enforcement were traveling on East Anderson Road when Perez-Rodriguez walked into the roadway wielding a machete. She began swinging the weapon and advanced toward two of the vehicles.<\/p>\n
Authorities activated a siren in one of those vehicles as Perez-Rodriguez began running toward them with the machete. As she continued to advance, an FBI agent opened the door of his vehicle and ordered Perez-Rodriguez to drop the machete. She did not comply.<\/p>\n
The agent then discharged his duty weapon at Perez-Rodriguez until she no longer posed a threat. The gunfire struck Perez-Rodriguez, and authorities transported her to a hospital for medical treatment. <\/p>\n
Perez-Rodriguez has been and will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.<\/p>\n
