Military leaders and other dignitaries gathered Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the launch of the new defense manufacturing operation.

The company expects the facility to create about 300 new manufacturing jobs in Grand Prairie as production ramps up.

“It means the start of our ability to deliver systems. It is one thing for a company to build a prototype. It is quite another to produce it at scale,” said Abby Denburg. “There is incredible talent here in Grand Prairie and the Greater Dallas area, and we look forward to tapping into that employee base and bringing them to the government.”

Covenant President and Chief Growth Officer Abby Denburg said the company moved quickly from concept to production because of the importance of the project.

“We all really believe that we are building a critical system for the U.S.’s security and deterrence,” Denburg said. “We are all really motivated by what we are building here and doing here, and it’s why we were able to go from an idea to a fully operational prototype in 11 months and one day.”

Covenant plans to manufacture the entire Anthem missile at the Grand Prairie facility. The company had 60 Anthem missiles on display inside the facility during Wednesday’s event. The new operation represents more than the opening of a missile factory. It also puts a North Texas company in a position to play a growing role in the nation’s defense manufacturing industry.

A new cruise missile will be built at the facility, which is expected to create 300 jobs.
