{"id":435823,"date":"2026-09-14T18:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T18:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/435823\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T18:44:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T18:44:14","slug":"historic-houston-landmark-built-by-texas-governor-lists-at-3-75m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/435823\/","title":{"rendered":"Historic Houston landmark built by Texas governor lists at $3.75M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sterling Mansion at 4515\u00a0Yoakum Blvd. on the border of Houston&#8217;s Montrose and Museum District, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcusmillichap.com\/properties\/194124\/sterling-mansion\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">listed for $3.75 million<\/a>, \u00a0The historic home was built in 1916 by Russell Brown Company and was previously the residence of Ross Shaw Sterling, the 31st governor of Texas and the co-founder of Humble Oil, an important predecessor of\u00a0ExxonMobil.<\/p>\n<p>In 1919, renowned architect Alfred C. Finn\u2014who also designed the San Jacinto Monument\u2014added a wide concrete front porch, a canopy and an inglenook, or small sitting area, to the home. The property is designated as a Houston landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.<\/p>\n<p>The 4,546-square-foot historic mansion sits on a half-acre lot and is also known as The Sterling-Berry House, later home to Houston banker, lawyer and civic leader Joel H. Berry.<\/p>\n<p>The property is suited for either office or residential use and includes parking for up to 22 vehicles.
