TEXAS — A coalition of Big Bend landowners filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking to stop planned border construction in the region.

The lawsuit challenges federal plans for barriers and other border infrastructure, arguing the projects could permanently alter the Big Bend landscape. Landowners in several counties said the federal government had asked them to sign right-of-entry agreements for construction.

Construction activity inside Big Bend National Park remained paused through the end of the month. The coalition said it wants the court to issue preliminary and permanent injunctions stopping construction and reverse the federal government’s designation of the area as having high illegal entry.

The lawsuit is the latest challenge to border infrastructure plans in the region, where opponents have raised concerns about impacts on private property, wildlife and access to the Rio Grande.

TEXAS — A coalition of Big Bend landowners filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking to stop planned border…

[8
82,84,83
post-435837","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-antonio","tag-san-antonio","tag-san-antonio-headlines","tag-san-antonio-news
["GET
