Here\u2019s why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/faith\/2025\/02\/24\/they-dream-of-building-muslim-centric-neighborhoods-near-dallas-will-it-work\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/faith\/2025\/02\/24\/they-dream-of-building-muslim-centric-neighborhoods-near-dallas-will-it-work\/\">EPIC City<\/a>, the planned Muslim-centric neighborhood spanning Collin and Hunt counties, has a new name.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Representatives for developer Community Capital Partners told The Dallas Morning News Monday that the planned project is now called The Meadow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Details on the rebrand were first revealed by Collin County\u2019s County Judge Chris Hill in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1CvqjRXo6R\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1CvqjRXo6R\/\">Facebook post <\/a>Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cIn light of some public confusion over whether the development would become a separate municipality, Community Capital Partners chose to change the name of the development from EPIC City to The Meadow to better describe the beautiful property and the inclusive, family-centered, mixed-use, master-planned community being designed,\u201d the firm said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>D-FW Real Estate News<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__3beff secondaryRoman secondaryRoman-20 text-center text-gray-dark\">Get the latest real estate news you need to know.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__8MgJa flex flex-wrap text-gray-dark secondaryRoman secondaryRoman-10 text-center justify-center\">By signing up, you agree to our\u00a0<a class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__lU9-l border-b border-gray-dark hover_border-0 focus_border-0 active_border-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/help\/terms-of-service\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terms of Service<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__lU9-l border-b border-gray-dark hover_border-0 focus_border-0 active_border-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/help\/privacy-policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Plans for the development call for more than 1,000 homes, a K-12 faith-based school, a mosque, elderly and assisted living, apartments, clinics, retail shops, a community college, and sports fields built on 402 acres roughly 40 miles northeast of downtown Dallas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Community Capital Partners, a for-profit development group, was formed by members of the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) \u2014 one of North Texas\u2019 largest mosques.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The rebrand comes as top-ranking Texas Republicans have directed or requested state and federal agencies to investigate Community Capital Partners, EPIC or other elements of the project throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Related<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:190 \/ 127\" class=\"dmnc_features-article-body-embeds-related-story-module__2UraD flex-none object-cover dmnc_images-modern-image-module__QFaG- max-w-full h-auto text-white dmnc_images-modern-image-module__9Zlll bg-gray-light object-contain dmnc_images-modern-image-module__P3kZ4 w-full\" width=\"190\" height=\"127\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WQ4VBVLSANEOTB5CRE57GNSJDA.jpg\" alt=\"Imran Chaudhary, executive officer and director of Community Capital Partners, poses for a...\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Last month, Attorney General Ken Paxton accused the project developers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/faith\/2025\/10\/14\/paxton-alleges-epic-city-developers-violated-securities-laws\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/faith\/2025\/10\/14\/paxton-alleges-epic-city-developers-violated-securities-laws\/\">violating federal and state securities laws<\/a>. Paxton did not specifically identify the violations. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Paxton said he was interested in filing a lawsuit against Community Capital Partners, pending a referral from the Texas State Securities Board. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Two investigations tied to the development have been settled or closed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In September, the Texas Workforce Commission settled a Fair Housing Act complaint against the developers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Separately, the U.S. Department of Justice<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/06\/25\/us-department-of-justice-ends-civil-rights-investigation-of-epic-city-development\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2025\/06\/25\/us-department-of-justice-ends-civil-rights-investigation-of-epic-city-development\/\"> dropped a civil rights investigation<\/a> tied to the project in June. The DOJ launched its probe after U.S. Sen. John Cornyn expressed concern that the developers may discriminate against Jewish and Christian Texans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/person\/6ab8b150-4bfe-3703-117f-b3a3b803945e\/greg-abbott\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/person\/6ab8b150-4bfe-3703-117f-b3a3b803945e\/greg-abbott\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Greg Abbott<\/a> previously said a dozen state agencies are investigating \u201cpotential illegal activities conducted by EPIC and its affiliated entities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Community Capital Partners has repeatedly said it will adhere to the Fair Housing Act, as well as all other applicable state and federal guidelines. The community will be open to members of all religions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Engineers for the project met with Collin County development staff last week for a pre-development meeting. No official plans have been submitted to the county or the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
