Upcoming projects<\/p>\n
Light rail vehicle replacements<\/a><\/p>\n Project: Dallas Area Rapid Transit agency received a $70 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, according to a news release from the agency. DART said it will use the $70 million grant to replace 53 light rail vehicles that were originally purchased over 30 years ago.<\/p>\n Update: DART has already begun the procurement process to purchase the new vehicles, but the agency has not announced a timeline for delivery.<\/p>\n Ongoing projects<\/p>\n CPKC Railroad Crossing improvements<\/a><\/p>\n Project: The city of Plano is replacing existing railroad crossings at Los Rios Boulevard and Plano Parkway. The project will also add sidewalk for some of the city\u2019s gaps in the current sidewalk system.<\/p>\n Update: Construction on the project started in September.<\/p>\n Greengate neighborhood sidewalk repairs<\/a><\/p>\n Project: The Greengate neighborhood area and adjacent roadways in Allen, including parts of Allen Heights Drive, will see upgrades to pedestrian facilities. Repairs include addressing broken sidewalk ramps, alley approaches and sidewalk panels.<\/p>\n Update: Contractors are currently working along Edelweiss Drive, Carnation Drive, Petunia Drive and Alder Drive, according to city officials. The next phase will include work on the interior neighborhood streets, with Flameleaf Drive, Haven Place and Bluebonnet Drive scheduled to follow.<\/p>\n
