The crash occurred about 1:40 p.m. in the 300 block of E. Jefferson Street when a Dodge car struck a turning Ford SUV, according to Grand Prairie Police Department spokesman Mark Beseda.<\/p>\n
The Ford’s driver, who wasn’t publicly identified, was transported to the hospital, where he later died. The 18-year-old driving the Dodge was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Investigators used surveillance video from nearby businesses to determine the Dodge’s driver was allegedly speeding prior to the crash, Beseda said. He was placed in police custody and faces a charge of manslaugher.<\/p>\n
As of Monday evening, the 18-year-old hadn’t been booked into jail because he was still receiving medical treatment, Beseda said.<\/p>\n
