Dallas police confirmed to The Dallas Express that a firearm found on Hunter Holmes during his September 10 arrest had been reported stolen.<\/p>\n

The revelation follows The Dallas Express\u2019<\/a> reporting on Holmes\u2019 arrest during an anti-Trump demonstration near American Airlines Center and social media posts from an account associated with Holmes containing violent political rhetoric and Antifascist Action imagery.<\/p>\n

When asked whether firearms were recovered from Holmes<\/a> or Adrian Garcia<\/a>, who was also arrested during the demonstration, DPD responded, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can confirm the gun that Holmes had on his person was reported stolen at the time of his arrest,\u201d the department told The Dallas Express.<\/p>\n

The confirmation comes after an account associated with Holmes publicly responded to an allegation that he possessed a stolen firearm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that gun really was stolen then I would\u2019ve caught a charge for that but lo and behold. I\u2019m not, I\u2019m free. I posted bail,\u201d the Doberman_DFW account wrote<\/a> following Holmes\u2019 release.<\/p>\n

DPD did not say why Holmes has not been publicly charged in connection with the reported stolen firearm.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Express also asked whether police were reviewing Holmes\u2019 social media activity, including a post stating, \u201cWe\u2019ve been preparing and organizing,\u201d and another displaying \u201cANTIFASCIST ACTION\u201d imagery alongside violent rhetoric referencing President Donald Trump, ICE, and police.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Department does not comment on specific investigative methods, information being reviewed, or potential evidence related to an ongoing investigation,\u201d DPD responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cDPD takes potential threats of violence seriously. We will not speculate as to whether specific statements or social media posts constitute a criminal threat or comment on matters that may be part of an ongoing investigation,\u201d DPD added.<\/p>\n

Police said there was no additional information to release regarding potential additional charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cShould additional charges be filed or releasable information become available, it will be provided through the appropriate channels,\u201d DPD said.<\/p>\n

Holmes was previously booked on two counts of assault causing bodily injury and one count of obstructing a highway or passageway stemming from the September 10 demonstration.
