HOUSTON \u2013 A body was found Wednesday during the search for a 74-year-old man who disappeared while looking for a part from a crashed remote-controlled aircraft in northwest Harris County.<\/p>\n
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a person believed to be the missing man was found deceased in the wooded area near the 11100 block of Katy Hockley.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur detectives are on scene,\u201d Gonzalez said. \u201cOur thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The identification of the person found has not been confirmed.<\/p>\n
The missing man was identified by Texas EquuSearch as Ronald Nowak. He had been missing for more than 24 hours before the discovery.<\/p>\n
According to Gonzalez, Nowak was operating a remote-controlled aircraft with another man in the wooded area when the aircraft went down. The men found the downed aircraft, which EquuSearch described as a model airplane, but Nowak went back into the wooded area to look for a missing part and never returned.<\/p>\n
EquuSearch said Nowak was last seen at the Northwest Houston R\/C Club wearing dark-colored shorts, a light gray T-shirt, a light cream-colored cap with a dark blue rim and light-colored tennis shoes.<\/p>\n
Harris County deputies and Texas EquuSearch volunteers searched the area Tuesday until around 9 p.m. The search resumed Wednesday and included detectives, EquuSearch volunteers and members of the Precinct 5 Constable\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the death.<\/p>\n
