Residents can <a href=\"https:\/\/geohub.austintexas.gov\/pages\/council-districts-and-jurisdictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">check their council district online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>District 9, covering Central Austin including downtown as well as portions of East and South Austin, is currently represented by Zo Qadri, who is serving his first term after <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/central-austin\/election\/velasquez-alter-qadri-claim-seats-in-austin-city-council-runoff-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">winning a 2022 runoff<\/a>. He faces four challengers\u2014Rich Heyman, Katie Kam, Dave Thadani and Kai Huang\u2014in this year&#8217;s election.<\/p>\n<p>What you need to know<\/p>\n<p>Candidates were asked to keep Q&amp;A responses within 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents.
