The district said Hole has worked at\u00a0HISD while traveling back and forth to Houston and credited her with several major initiatives for\u00a0the 2026-27 school year, including the launch of AI-focused schools, early literacy programs, and the overhaul of special education services.<\/p>\n

Hole’s resignation marks the third high-level departure from state-appointed Superintendent Mike Miles’ cabinet in two months. Her departure follows those of Orlando Riddick, the chief of strategic initiatives<\/a> who oversaw the outsourcing of management at four top-performing high schools, and , the Chief of Staff<\/a> Monica\u00a0Zdrojewski. They both left in August.<\/p>\n

\u201cKristen has been an invaluable member of our leadership team and has approached this work with tremendous commitment to our students, teachers, and principals,\u201d Miles said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen her family relocated last spring, Kristen made the personal decision to continue traveling back and forth because she wanted to see the District through the start of the school year and ensure these important initiatives were successfully launched. I am grateful for her leadership, her commitment to\u00a0HISD, and the many contributions she has made to our work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The district did not announce whether someone will step into the vacated role, and it did not share a resignation date for Hole.<\/p>\n

Hole, whose base\u00a0salary is $310,000<\/a>, joined the district just over a week after the state tapped Miles to lead HISD’s takeover.
