San Antonio musicians Jay Perez and Destiny Navaira have been nominated for Latin Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n
Both are competing for Best Tejano Album: Perez for \u201cLe Seguiremos\u201d and Navaira for \u201c3.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nominations were announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Their competition in the category includes Bobby Pulido, the Tejano star who recently retired from the music business to enter politics. Pulido is the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives in the state\u2019s 15th Congressional District. He was nominated for the album \u201cBobby Pulido & Friends Una Tuya y Una M\u00eda (Vol.2\/En Vivo).\u201d<\/p>\n
Pulido won in the same category last year.<\/p>\n
The other nominees for Best Tejano Album are Kevin Aguilar and Vilax.<\/p>\n
Peso Pluma, the trap corridos star with ties to San Antonio, was nominated for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for \u201cDinast\u00eda (Deluxe),\u201d a collaboration with Tito Double P.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Edinburg band Grupo Frontera\u00a0 was nominated for Best Norte\u00f1o Album for \u201cLo Que Me Falta Por Llorar.\u201d The band also has two songs up for Best Regional Song, a songwriter\u2019s award: \u201cOjitos Bellos\u201d and \u00a0\u201cNo\u00a0Capea,\u201d which features singer-songwriter Xavi. \u201cEstamos Todos,\u201d a song by another South Texas band, Intocable, also is nominated in that category.<\/p>\n
South Texas native Edgar Barrera, a songwriter and producer for some of Latin music\u2019s biggest stars, led all nominees with 10, including producer and composer of the year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The artists with the most nominations, all tied with seven each, are Karol G, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, Rosal\u00eda and Jorge Drexler. All four are nominated for\u00a0album, song and record of the year.<\/p>\n
The Latin Grammy ceremony will be broadcast live on Nov. 12 from the MGM Grand Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
