{"id":439724,"date":"2026-09-18T07:54:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T07:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/439724\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T07:54:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T07:54:10","slug":"eastside-boys-girls-club-gets-funding-to-stay-open-at-least-3-more-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/439724\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastside Boys &#038; Girls Club gets funding to stay open at least 3 more months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO &#8211; The Eastside Boys &amp; Girls Club could remain open for at least three more months after City Council approved funding intended to help stabilize the nonprofit\u2019s finances.<\/p>\n<p>District 2 Councilman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DdY7MY_xmtX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jalen McKee-Rodriguez said in an Instagram update<\/a> that the city will authorize $350,000, about half of the Eastside club\u2019s budget, as part of the fiscal year 2027 budget approved Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/foxsanantonio.com\/newsletter-daily\/boys-girls-clubs-of-san-antonio-to-close-rayburn-club-pause-eastside-programs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Antonio to close Rayburn Club, pause Eastside programs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He said half of that funding, or $175,000, will be available for three months to keep the club open. The remaining money would be available afterward if the organization meets certain conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Those conditions include pursuing grants, reworking its budget, and meeting with East Side residents and community partners to create a long-term vision for programming at the center.<\/p>\n<p>The funding comes after Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of San Antonio announced it would pause programming at its Eastside Club on Martin Luther King Drive beginning Sept. 30 because of financial challenges.
