Whatever it is, there\u2019s something for everyone here in Lubbock to see courtesy of the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/lubbockarts.org\/public-art\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lubbockarts.org\/public-art\/\">Public Display of Art<\/a>\u2019 program run by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lubbockarts.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lubbockarts.org\/\">Lubbock Arts Alliance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Carolina Arellanos is on its executive board. Having earned her master\u2019s in fine arts, she knows just how much joy art can bring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cArt for me is a way for knowledge translation,\u201d Arellanos said. \u201cIt creates so many possibilities within the community and within Texas Tech. This program also makes art accessible to all members of our community, which is one of our main goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The program began in 2019, with 19 different pieces have been showcased to Lubbock residents so far. Its newest pieces, the concentricity sculptures, stand at 13 feet tall and weigh in at 700 pounds, <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Pieces are rotated every two years, and Arellanos says there\u2019s a good reason for that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s to keep it engaging,\u201d Arellanos said. \u201cWe also want to create other partnerships and connection with artists locally, regionally and nationally. The project is looking to make a lasting impact in this area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe want this space to become a landmark,\u201d Arellanos said. \u201cIt creates curiosity, it creates imagination. I think it creates a space of wonder and the opportunities just come from there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Bringing color, joy, and creativity to everyday life.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
