{"id":439844,"date":"2026-09-18T10:34:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T10:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/439844\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T10:34:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T10:34:10","slug":"bostons-willson-contreras-has-bruised-right-hand-after-hit-by-jakob-junis-pitch-in-4-3-win-at-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/439844\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston&#8217;s Willson Contreras has bruised right hand after hit by Jakob Junis pitch in 4-3 win at Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) \u2014 Willson Contreras left the Boston&#8217;s 4-3 win over Texas on Thursday night in the eighth inning after he was hit by a pitch on his right hand.<\/p>\n<p>Red Sox manager Chad Tracy said the first baseman&#8217;s hand was bruised with some swelling and X-rays were negative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re going to take it day to day,\u201d Tracy said.<\/p>\n<p>Contreras was struck by a first-pitch sinker from Jakob Junis after Wilyer Abreu drew a leadoff walk with the Rangers leading 3-1. Contreras walked to first base in obvious pain, was examined by an athletic trainer and headed to the dugout.<\/p>\n<p>Two batters later, Trevor Story hit a three-run home run off Jacob Latz.<\/p>\n<p>Contreras was 1 for 3 with a single.
