A major TxDOT<\/a> highway pavement project is set to kick off in\u00a0San Antonio in the coming days. Here’s what local drivers should know before heading out for their weekend plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Doug Leecock,\u00a0Comal County Commissioner Precinct 1, a TxDOT overlay project on Highway 281 is scheduled to begin with a concrete traffic barrier going up on Friday, September 18. “Weather permitting, paving operations are anticipated to commence on September 20, 2026, with much of the work being done at night,” Leecock added in the Facebook post<\/a>. The work is expected to persist throughout\u00a0the rest of the year, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Please plan accordingly,” Leecock wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the post, Leecock added a map showing where drivers can expect the overlay project to span. The area impacted will begin around Borgfeld Road and continue almost to the\u00a0H-E-B Plus! on Highway 46, a nearly seven-mile stretch of the highway that crosses the Bexar and Comal County lines. It’s unclear if the project is anticipated to cause significant traffic delays for local drivers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

MySA reached out to TxDOT for more information on the traffic impact and scope of the project, but did not immediately receive a response.<\/p>\n
