On Tuesday, Louisiana’s Origin Bank did the same. On Wednesday, Texas Capital rang TXSE’s closing bell at its Uptown headquarters to celebrate two funds that began trading on the exchange, marking TXSE’s first-ever primary listings. Then on Thursday, at Dallas-based Westwood Holdings Group’s headquarters, the investment and asset management firm and TXSE rung the opening bell to celebrate the first ETF to launch on TXSE.

Finally, on Friday, Dillard’s announced it would move its primary listing from the New York Stock Exchange to TXSE. The Arkansas-based retail chain has deepened its business ties to Texas, which it says is its largest market with 54 stores, redomiciling in the state from Delaware in 2025. TXSE has also targeted the entire southeast quadrant of the U.S. as a corridor for growth, positioning Dallas as the economic center of the region.

Article continues below this ad

“The launch of the Texas Stock Exchange sends a powerful message about where Texas stands in the global economy, eighth in the world if we were our own independent nation,” said Texas Secretary of State Robert Howden at Wednesday’s event. “ ‘Choosin’ Texas’ is more than an Ella Langley song; it’s what companies and investors are doing through the Texas Stock Exchange.”

<img alt="Shoppers walk past Dillard’s at NorthPark Center in Dallas, Friday, Dec. 10, 2021. (Elias Valverde II/The Dallas Morning News)

Elias Valverde II/Staff Photographer

After TXSE successfully launched trading on its platform of more than 13,000 U.S. stock symbols in July, this week’s dual bell ringing ceremonies brought the bourse its first active primary listings: the Texas Capital Texas Equity Index ETF (TXS), Texas Capital Texas Oil Index ETF (OILT) and Westwood Salient Enhanced Power & Infrastructure ETF (PWRX). In August, Texas Capital announced it would transfer the two ETFs to TXSE from the New York Stock Exchange’s NYSE Arca exchange, effective Wednesday. Back in March, Westwood filed a prospectus for a new ETF, PWRX, that would trade on TXSE and was officially available Thursday.

Texas Capital stock will begin trading on TXSE on Oct. 8, followed by Origin Bank on Oct. 13. The pair joins Energy Transfer LP, along with three companies it owns the controlling interests in — Sunoco LP, SunocoCorp LP and USA Compression LP — in announcing moves to TXSE. Energy Transfer founder and chairman Kelcy Warren owns about a 30% stake in TXSE Group. The Energy Transfer suite of companies will begin trading on TXSE on Oct. 5.

Westwood CEO Brian Casey said his firm could explore transferring the listings of its other three ETFs to TXSE from NYSE and Nasdaq if PWRX performs well. PWRX is an actively managed, income-generating ETF, and Casey explained that tight stock spreads (the difference between the bid and offer prices) are especially important for ETF investors, but on other exchanges today investors are seeing wide spreads.

Article continues below this ad

“So the fact that trading [on TXSE] is almost instantaneous, and the fact that they have dedicated market makers who have experience really was something we wanted to try,” Casey said Thursday. “To be fair, we have ETFs on the New York Stock Exchange, we have ETFs on Nasdaq, but we wanted to try TXSE, and especially for something like this, which is power-related, it’s very Texas-themed, so it just made sense for us.”

TXSE built its trading engine from the ground up since being founded in 2024, which it has said should provide advantages in the age of fully electronic trading compared with older exchanges carrying legacy code and technology. Texas Capital president, chairman and CEO Rob Holmes also cited the exchange’s underlying technology as part of what went into the decision to move the bank’s primary listing, saying as part of Monday’s announcement that he thinks state-of-the-art trade matching could improve Texas Capital’s opening and closing stock price.

For its two ETFs, which both track the Texas economy in their own way, listing on TXSE also provided natural alignment between two stewards of North Texas finance that take a lot of pride in being from and serving the Lone Star State. Texas Capital, which has nearly $30 billion in deposits, touts itself as the only full-service financial firm built and headquartered in Texas since completing a strategic transformation last year.

“This milestone reflects our deep conviction in Texas, our confidence in the Texas Stock Exchange, and our belief that the companies, investors, and entrepreneurs driving economic growth in Texas deserve a differentiated, world-class capital markets platform built right here at home,” Holmes said Wednesday. “Through TXS and OILT, everyone not fortunate enough to live or work in the great state of Texas can now participate in the most dynamic economy in the world.”

Article continues below this ad

Texas Capital chairman, president and CEO Rob Holmes rings the Texas Stock Exchange bell on Wednesday, September 16,…

[9
102,104,103,88646,88648,88645
post-440761","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-tp-banking","tag-tp-stock-market","tag-tp-texas-stock-exchange
["GET
