WASHINGTON –<\/p>\n
The Washington Nationals announced on Friday that the team has agreed to a four-year contract extension with right-handed pitcher Cade Cavalli. The deal also includes a club option for the 2031 season.<\/p>\n
The deal is worth $47 million guaranteed from 2027 through 2030, but it could be worth $70 million if the club option is picked up.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old Bixby native is 12-5 this season, with a 3.12 ERA. He\u2019s struck out 194 batters, and held opponents to a .233 average over 31 starts.<\/p>\n
The former Oklahoma Sooner also ranks among the top-10 in several National League categories: starts (2nd), strikeouts (4th), strikeouts per nine innings (4th), ERA (8th), WHIP (9th) and opponents\u2019 batting average (10th).<\/p>\n
He has also posted five games with at least 10 strikeouts, tied for the fifth-most in Major League Baseball this season.<\/p>\n
Since the All-Star break, Cavalli is 7-1 with a 2.05 ERA and has allowed just 15 earned runs in 66 innings.<\/p>\n
