John Cornyn. Backed by an 11th-hour endorsement from former President Donald Trump just a week before Election Day, Paxton secured the nomination with nearly 64% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Heading into the November general election, facing Democratic State Representative James Talarico (D-Austin), Paxton is pitching an \u201cAmerica First\u201d platform centered on lower living costs and economic relief for Texans, while pledging to carry forward Trump\u2019s policy agenda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI met with ranchers, business owners, law enforcement officers, parents, faith leaders, and hardworking Texans from every corner of our state, and I\u2019ll tell you what I\u2019ve learned,\u201d Paxton said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe best part of our state is not just its scenery or even its great Texas BBQ \u2014 those are amazing, but it\u2019s the people of Texas.
