Greg Casar, who called for an independent investigation and the release of body camera footage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning,\u201d Casar said in a statement released Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED | <a href=\"https:\/\/news4sanantonio.com\/news\/local\/federal-immigration-officer-shoots-injures-man-in-austin-report-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Federal immigration officer shoots, injures man in Austin, report says<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Casar also accused the agency of dishonesty in past shootings, saying, \u201cOver and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he expects community members to respond peacefully, adding, \u201cJust like Americans have from Minneapolis to Houston, Austinites will speak out peacefully against this deadly mass deportation machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Casar ended his statement by criticizing ICE\u2019s actions nationally: \u201cICE has been terrorizing our country for far too long. We will not be silent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
