Festivities begin at 6 p.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/lightthenight.org\/events\/san-antonio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lightthenight.org\/events\/san-antonio\">Registration is free<\/a>, and participants are encouraged to raise funds to support the organization\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The event raises money for life-saving blood cancer research, free information, support services, and advocacy for quality, affordable and coordinated care for patients and their families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bloodcancerunited.org\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/bloodcancerunited.org\/about-us\">Blood Cancer United<\/a>, formerly known as The Leukemia &amp; Lymphoma Society, has a goal to help people with blood cancer gain more than 1 million years of life by 2040. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The goal represents more birthdays, graduations and cherished moments with loved ones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Patients and survivors receive a special survivor T-shirt regardless of how much they raise. They also receive a white lantern to hold during the event as participants join together to bring light to the darkness of cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">To take part, register for a Light The Night event, invite friends and family to join, and help support Blood Cancer United\u2019s effort to ensure everyone with blood cancer can live a longer, better life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The Blood Cancer United mission: Cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of all patients and their families.
