It\u2019s a happy \u2013 and increasingly rare \u2013 occasion for an indie restaurant in Dallas to make it to a 10-year anniversary. And burgers? Talk about a category loaded with Texas-sized opinions. All the more reason to celebrate Shady\u2019s in Lake Highlands, which marks the big \u201cone-oh\u201d this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Back in 2016, Shady\u2019s launched near the intersection of Walnut Hill and Audelia in Lake Highlands. The aim was always to be a family-friendly neighborhood watering hole, and it succeeded. To celebrate 10 years, they\u2019re running specials all week, making it a great time to get (re)acquainted. <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve long loved Shady\u2019s and have put their many Reader\u2019s Choice awards from this publication to the test \u2014\u00a0it\u2019s passed<\/a>. Our favorites include the El Shady ($12.50) with chorizo, fried egg and grilled jalape\u00f1os. And the Holy Guacamole ($13.95) has guac, cheese, bacon and a garlic aioli. The most popular burger at this location is the Tailgater with two patties, bacon, American cheese, and Shady\u2019s secret sauce.<\/p>\n

Shady\u2019s makes most of everything on the menu in-house, including the buns. All-Angus beef patties are hand-formed in-house daily and never frozen. Other scratch-made items include the chicken strips, which are quite popular here. And the milkshakes are amazing, especially since you can add liquor to them. Ever had a caramel pretzel milkshake with rum or vodka? You should.<\/p>\n

Shady\u2019s has two other locations: Richardson and Lake Lewisville, with a Shady\u2019s Backyard planned for Far North Dallas later this year (with a 6,000-square-foot patio). <\/p>\n

Shady\u2019s Lake Highlands is marking its 10-year anniversary with a different promotion each day from September 21-27: <\/p>\n

Monday, Sept. 21: Rollback prices to 2016 all day on either the Shady\u2019s Original ($6) or the Tailgater Burgers ($9).
\nTuesday, Sept. 22: 10 wings for $10 all day
\nWednesday, Sept. 23: Wildcat Spirit Night; 10% of sales go to the Wildcat Club
\nThursday, Sept. 24: $5 margs all day
\nFriday, Sept. 25: Say \u201cFry-yay\u201d for a free order of fries with a purchase
\nSaturday, Sept. 26: Live music by Vic Duncan 6:30-9:30 p.m.
