{"id":443616,"date":"2026-09-22T03:00:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T03:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/443616\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T03:00:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T03:00:40","slug":"lubbock-county-commissioners-pass-resolution-supporting-texas-rangers-investigation-into-payroll-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/443616\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock County Commissioners pass resolution supporting Texas Rangers investigation into payroll dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Commissioners Court approved a non-binding resolution calling for a Texas Rangers probe into why and how Mark Meurer drew a paycheck for nine months despite not holding the Precinct 2 commissioner seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Commissioner Mike Dalby said he endorses everything within the resolution but voted against it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">County Judge Curtis Parrish was present but did not vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Judge Parrish appointed Meurer to Precinct 2 last December after removing Commissioner Jason Corley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A judge ultimately returned the seat to Corley, but the county kept paying Meurer nearly $70,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Meurer and Judge Parrish say it\u2019s because the case wasn\u2019t resolved until Meurer dropped out of an appeal last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Meurer said he will pay back every cent of the money since he set it aside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock County district attorney has opened an investigation into a pay dispute in Precinct 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">District Attorney Sunshine Stanek told the court she does not need it to tell her to do something she is already working on.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
