SAN ANTONIO
\n \u2013 Michael Aaron, who lives at Ayla at Castle Hills on Jackson Keller Road, said his family has been without hot water since the beginning of September.<\/p>\n
Aaron told KSAT his family has tried boiling water on the stove, but with two teenagers in the home, he said it is difficult to rely on that as a long-term solution.<\/p>\n
Last week, Aaron said his family spent about $60 on a hotel room so they could take showers. They planned to do it again this week, but are reconsidering because it is becoming an expense they can\u2019t keep taking on.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just felt like we can\u2019t keep spending money on that,\u201d Aaron said.<\/p>\n
The lack of hot water has also affected other parts of the household, he said. Dishes have piled up, and Aaron said the dishwasher takes longer to run because the water stays cold.<\/p>\n
During a visit to the apartment, KSAT also tested the water in Aaron\u2019s bathroom. The water did not become hot while KSAT was there.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s such a necessity,\u201d Aaron said. \u201cYou use hot water for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
Management says new system is waiting on CPS Energy<\/p>\n
New property management took over the complex at the end of August. Madison Real Estate Group now oversees the property and its operations after the courts placed it into receivership.<\/p>\n
Aaron said he has seen the new management working on improvements around the property since taking over.<\/p>\n
Management declined an on-camera interview but told KSAT it has made significant upgrades to the property, including new gas systems, furnaces and water systems. They said that work has since passed required city and state inspections.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re told the remaining step is getting the system operating.<\/p>\n
In an email to residents obtained by KSAT, management said it had been in regular contact with CPS Energy and was waiting for the company to install equipment needed before the new hot-water system could be started.<\/p>\n

Aaron said he understands there is work being done at the complex, but he wants to know when the hot water will actually return. He said the family has also reported their concern to the city\u2019s 311 and District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
KSAT reached out to CPS Energy to ask when it plans to return to the property, what work remains and when residents can expect their hot water to be restored.<\/p>\n
As of Monday afternoon, a CPS Energy spokesperson said the utility was looking into the matter. KSAT is waiting for additional details.<\/p>\n
For Aaron, the issue has become a daily frustration, particularly because hot water is something he expects to have in his home.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just want a solution and someone to come out and fix this,\u201d Aaron said.<\/p>\n
