AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has wrapped up its 90 Days of Safety campaign, a statewide initiative launched on August 11 to commemorate the department’s 90th anniversary. The campaign, which concluded on November 9, aimed to enhance public safety through various community-focused activities.<\/p>\n
“As a law enforcement agency, DPS knows that partnerships are paramount to public safety \u2013 including ones with the very people we serve,” said DPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin. The campaign featured public service announcements in over 180 driver license offices, distributed more than 12,000 “Keeping Texas Safe” coloring books, and participated in events such as the Soles Walking 4 Souls fentanyl awareness walk in San Antonio. DPS also engaged with local schools for safety walk-throughs and collaborated with agencies during National Child Passenger Safety Week, according to a press release from the department.<\/p>\n
The initiative was divided into three 30-day themes: Keeping Texas Communities Safe, Keeping Texas Roads Safe, and Keeping Texas Families Safe. Each theme focused on different aspects of the department’s mission to protect and serve Texas, with DPS sharing educational content and public service announcements to promote safety resources and actions.
