\n\tIt doesn\u2019t take a crystal ball to see that Ella Langley <\/a>has the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 <\/a>of all time \u2014 because on Tuesday (Sept. 22), the country star officially logged her 23rd week in the top spot with \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after the chart news went live Tuesday morning, Langley reshared a graphic listing some of the previous record holders on her Instagram Story, alongside a teary-eyed emoji and a mind-blown emoji. \u201c23 weeks,\u201d the singer wrote. \u201cAbsolutely insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d debuted on the U.S. songs chart in November 2025, entering at No. 39. No one could\u2019ve predicted the wild life it would take on after that, first hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February. Though some releases have dethroned Langley\u2019s smash at different points, it\u2019s always been able to reclaim the top spot, totaling a total of 23 nonconsecutive weeks to surpass Mariah Carey\u2019s \u201cAll I Want for Christmas\u201d as the record-holder.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was on a writers retreat with Miranda [Lambert], our first time writing together,\u201d Langley recalled of how \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d came together in an April interview with Billboard<\/a>. \u201cAt a young age, she had a pet kangaroo. She told me how she got pulled over once with the kangaroo in the passenger seat. The kangaroo got her out of a ticket, and she said, \u2018Of course, I had Texas plates, too.\u2019 I went, \u2018Well, she\u2019s from Texas, I can tell\u2026\u2019 Forty-five minutes later, we had the song written.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d appears on Langley\u2019s sophomore album, Dandelion, which spent three weeks atop the Billboard 200<\/a>. The project fared even better on the Top Country Albums<\/a> chart, where it\u2019s logged 18 weeks at No. 1 to date.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt feels surreal,\u201d Langley previously told Billboard News<\/a> of her signature song\u2019s reach. \u201cI think this has been the biggest moment for me, where I\u2019ve seen where fans can change your career. For so long, you\u2019re like, \u2018Alright, one song at a time, one record at a time.\u2019 But with this one song \u2026 man, have they taken ahold of it.
