Due to the unpredictable nature of these storms, confidence in exactly where activity will form remains low. Not everyone in the region will see rain, but most locations have approximately a 40-50% chance of measurable precipitation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"KCBD\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/VSCMVIDVFVENJOJIZO7NI4IOAA.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"529\" \/>KCBD(KCBD)Tonight\u2019s storm threat<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A stronger disturbance aloft this evening into tonight could bring more widespread showers to western portions of the Caprock. The best chances for storm activity will remain west of I-27, with a drier forecast expected farther east.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"KCBD\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/UVDJWCLKRBA5NMIEKI4EX53KFA.PNG\" width=\"980\" height=\"554\" \/>KCBD(KCBD)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While widespread severe weather is unlikely, a few strong wind gusts are possible this evening, especially near the Texas-New Mexico state line. The strongest storms capable of developing could produce wind gusts up to 50 mph, heavy rainfall that may lead to localized flooding in poor drainage areas, and quarter-sized hail.<\/p>\n<p>Extended outlook<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will remain possible most of Wednesday through Friday, primarily across the Caprock.
