The Stars had a last-minute change of plans when they took the ice for the final home game of their preseason slate.

Starting goalie Jake Oettinger, who was expected to make his preseason debut in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over the Minnesota Wild, didn’t take the ice for warmups. Moments later, the team announced Oettinger was out for Wednesday’s game with no explanation.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said postgame that Oettinger was experiencing some lower-body tightness after morning skate, and they kept him out as a precaution. The coach said Oettinger will be evaluated again Thursday.

“We weren’t going to take a chance,” Gulutzan said.

The starting netminder still has one more opportunity to get in some preseason action before the regular season begins on Oct. 2 against the St. Louis Blues. Dallas will travel to Minnesota for their final preseason game Friday where they’ll look to finish a perfect 4-0.

In Oettinger’s absence, Texas Stars starter Remi Poirier filled in, playing all three periods in net and posting a 24-save shutout.

“I was excited to have the opportunity to play a whole game,” Poirier said. “I just wanted to do the thing right. Last game, I had some things I didn’t like. I was trying to be better on some of those things, and tonight I did it. Really happy with my game.”

Poirier faced a younger Minnesota lineup but an NHL goalie across the ice in Jesper Wallstedt. He and his fellow Texas Stars players made their last impression, as many are expected to be loaned down to Cedar Park in the coming days for their training camp, which began Wednesday.

Gulutzan also said that he anticipates using a lineup Friday that more closely resembles an opening-night lineup.

Matthew Seminoff, who is set to play his third season in Texas, scored Dallas’ first goal off an assist from Kyle Capobianco — a defenseman who spent much of last season in Dallas but will likely begin this season in Cedar Park for cap reasons. Capobianco, who finished with two points Wednesday, is expected to be one of the first call-ups if injuries occur.

Miro Heiskanen, Esa Lindell and Jamie Benn headlined the group that also saw Oskar Bäck, Lian Bichsel, Radek Faksa, Joel Kiviranta, Tyler Myers and Sam Steel get their first game action.

Without several of their top scorers, the contest was a low-scoring affair, and the Stars were kept off the scoresheet during a 5-on-3 power play and finished 0-for-7 on the power play.

Lindell added the second goal halfway through the third period shortly after a power play ended on an assist from Capobianco.

[9
102,104,103,87994,90103
post-445966","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-tp-dallas-stars","tag-tp-jake-oettinger
["GET
