SAN ANTONIO – Decked in red, more than 50,000 people flowed into the Alamodome Wednesday night for a Bruno Mars concert.

Many had spent hundreds of dollars on their tickets, and those looking for last minute tickets to the sold-out show were confronted with re-sale prices in excess of $1,400 for the “best” seats on Ticketmaster.

Beginning Oct. 1, though, attending top Alamodome events will get even more expensive, and out-of-town concert-goers will eventually face higher costs, too, when they stay overnight.

As part of its FY 2027 budget, the San Antonio City Council approved raising the facility fee rolled into every ticket price at the city-owned Alamodome from $6.50 to $7.50, and the maximum price for on-site parking will jump from $60 to $75.

This will be the second time those fees have been increased in three years. Before October 2025, the facility fee had been between $5.50 and $6.00, depending on the event, and parking was capped at up to $40 per space.

KSAT asked San Antonio Convention and Sports Facilities Marketing Manager Victor Caballero if the city was worried about raising the price too much when people are already paying hundreds, or even more than $1,000, for a few tickets.

“I think what we do take into consideration is what other markets are doing and making sure that we’re not exceeding those amounts. We’re staying within that range,” Caballero said. “And in many cases, if you compare our parking to other markets, you’ll see that we are oftentimes much lower.”

Caballero said that, on average, about three-quarters of attendees at major concerts are coming in from “out of market,” driving in from places like Houston, Dallas, Austin, or the Rio Grande Valley.

But the price of hotel stays will eventually go up, too. Bexar County voters approved a 0.25% increase to the Hotel Occupancy Tax in November 2025 as part a plan to help fund both a new Spurs arena and renovate the county-owned facilities around the Freeman Coliseum.

A county spokeswoman said county commissioners haven’t taken the official steps to actually institute the tax increase yet. She was unable to confirm when that might happen.
