Fall is in full swing on the astronomical calendar, but it doesn’t feel that way in many parts of Texas, where temperatures still reach near triple digits.<\/p>\n
However, an upcoming cold front could make the season feel more present in the San Antonio region. Residents could feel a change early next week, according to a Wednesday, September 23, report<\/a> from CBS Austin Meteorologist Avery Tomasco.<\/p>\n The weather radar shows “a big chunk of tropical moisture” heading toward South Central Texas, Tomasco said. Much of this is due to Hurricane Polo, a Category 4 system in the eastern Pacific. It could trigger a 10- to 20-degree cooldown in Del Rio, San Antonio, Austin, and other surrounding towns early next week.<\/p>\n As tropical moisture pools over Texas, Tomasco explained, a “bigger trough of low pressure with a cold front attached to it” is expected to arrive on Tuesday, September 29. This would create widespread storm chances throughout Tuesday and into the morning of Wednesday, September 30.<\/p>\n Overall, the meteorologist says locals can expect “high temperatures in just the 80s” and “a few refreshingly cool mornings.” For reference, the I-35 corridor has been experiencing highs in the 93- to 100-degree range, so the change would be welcomed by most. There is still uncertainty in the forecast since we are so far out, but it is “looking mighty promising,” Tomasco said.<\/p>\n
