A booking photo of Perez is attached to this news release.<\/p>\n<p>The victim is identified as Diego Cornejo, 18.<\/p>\n<p>HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported:<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and located a male suffering from a gunshot wound.\u00a0Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male, later identified as Mr. Cornejo, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n<p>Further investigation determined the male was shot while he and his girlfriend were handling a firearm.\u00a0After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney\u2019s Office it was determined the shooting would be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday(Sept. 23), Emily Perez\u00a0was arrested by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders\u2019 Task Force.
