{"id":447904,"date":"2026-09-25T23:50:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T23:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/447904\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T23:50:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T23:50:13","slug":"westbury-high-school-homecoming-football-game-canceled-after-deadly-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/447904\/","title":{"rendered":"Westbury High School homecoming football game canceled after deadly shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">HOUSTON \u2013 The Westbury High School homecoming football game scheduled for Saturday has been canceled following Friday\u2019s deadly shooting of a senior student near campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">In a message to families, Principal Adrea Alexander says campus administration is working to reschedule the game and will share updates with families and students once those plans are finalized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The cancelation comes after Westbury High School senior LePaul Warren was shot and killed just steps from the school campus on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Warren, a wide receiver and starter on the school\u2019s varsity football team and a shooting guard for varsity basketball, was described by his godfather as a \u201cgood kid, very respectful, very polite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Witnesses said the shooter was dressed in all black with a ski mask on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Investigators have interviewed witnesses and are also hoping license plate readers in the area can help them track down the shooter.
