SAN ANTONIO \u2013 At least 10 police officers shot a man multiple times Friday night, San Antonio Police Chief Jesse Salame said, after the man pointed a shotgun at officers near a bar west of downtown.<\/p>\n
The man, who has not yet been identified, is in critical condition and was in the operating room at the time of publication, according to SAPD.<\/p>\n
Officers were initially called to a convenience store in the 500 block of Ruiz Street for a report of a man with a gun, police said.<\/p>\n
Police found the man a short distance away in the parking lot of a bar, where police said he was carrying a duffel bag and moving between parked cars.<\/p>\n
Officers fired \u201cless-lethal beanbag\u201d rounds to try to get the man to put the bag down and gave him several commands to come out and surrender, police said<\/p>\n
The man then stepped out from behind a vehicle, racked a loaded shotgun and pointed it at officers, police said, and at least 10 officers fired.<\/p>\n
Salame said he did not know whether the man fired, how many rounds officers fired or how many times the man was hit.<\/p>\n
No officers were hurt, and police said no one else was injured. Several witnesses gave statements to police.<\/p>\n
Witnesses and people in the area told KSAT that the man who was shot Friday night had stabbed a woman earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The woman who was injured in the earlier stabbing spoke to KSAT, saying the man told officers to \u201cput your guns down or you\u2019re going to kill me.\u201d<\/p>\n
