City Council, however, owes it to their constituents to make sure money isn’t left on the table.<\/p>\n
For example, it is fairly common that when a business rents a space for retail, there is a base rent and there may be a percentage increase when the business revenue meets specific amounts.<\/p>\n
While the Spurs say revenue sharing is nonnegotiable, I would suggest the $2.5 million annual lease could be increased if the Spurs meet specific revenue amounts.<\/p>\n

After all, $2.5 million per year is a pittance. Divided by 41 regular-season home games, that is nearly $61,000 per game. Surely, the Spurs could afford a bit more, especially if they make the NBA playoffs.<\/p>\n
When the Spurs make the playoffs, they should pay an additional $61,000 for each home game<\/p>\n
That would allow the city to share in the success of the Spurs.<\/p>\n
Let’s get this deal done, but fairly to both parties.<\/p>\n

The verbiage is meant to be intimidating, but it really shows an underestimation of voters\u2019 intelligence.<\/p>\n

Another text, appearing to be from Vice President\u00a0JD Vance, reads, \u201cI try to be a nice guy, but I need to lay down the law here. This is your FINAL NOTICE.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both messages include links to a form that included questions about whom I voted for in the last election and how much money I want to donate.<\/p>\n
Texts like these are a genuine turnoff, no matter the party sending them.<\/p>\n

In no way would my vote be swayed or would I be enticed to contribute to anyone\u2019s campaign. I wouldn\u2019t offer my personal voting information to a random text message.\u00a0<\/p>\n
