A 12-year-old boy was injured after he was shot while sitting inside his family’s minivan Friday night in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sheriff’s deputies responded Friday night to 8700 Barker Cypress Road after receiving reports of a shooting, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a social media post<\/a> Saturday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The child was in a minivan with his parents and three siblings while the family waited outside a business for another relative to come out, the sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n

While the family waited, someone inside a dark-colored sedan traveling north on Barker Cypress road fired multiple shots toward a black truck that was moving through the parking lot, according to authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The family’s minivan was positioned between the two vehicles as the sedan traveled alongside the truck and shots were fired. According to Gonzalez, the 12-year-old was struck near the shoulder and taken to a hospital, where he was listed in fair condition Saturday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing and no arrests have been announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
