AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns kept the train rolling on Saturday, notching another ranked win on their 2026 resume.

The Longhorns topped Tennessee in their SEC opener 20-17 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville in a game classified by dominant defensive play on both sides.

The Longhorns held the Volunteer offense to just 221 yards of total offense, with the Volunteers not hitting the 200-yard mark until the game’s final two minutes. The pass rush was ferocious, as the Longhorn defense got to quarterback Faizon Brandon an astonishing 10 times. Of those 10 sacks, five came from Colin Simmons, as the junior edge rusher showcased why he’s one of the premier players in college football and a likely top 10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Rasheem Biles, Maraad Watson, Hero Kanu, Zina Umeozulu and Alex January also registered one sack each.

Manning was also under pressure relentlessly all game, with the Volunteer defense registering six sacks of their own.

The Longhorn offense was spearheaded on Saturday by running back Raleek Brown, who took on more of a featured role than in weeks past due to Hollywood Smothers dealing with a lower-leg injury. Brown finished with 67 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, accounting for both Longhorn touchdowns. Ryan Wingo led the team in receiving, with 74 yards on six catches.

The Longhorns will have an open week next week before heading to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma on Oct. 10.

The Longhorn defense sacked Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon 10 times, with five of those sacks coming from Colin…

[11
132,134,133
post-449387","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-austin","tag-austin","tag-austin-headlines","tag-austin-news
["GET
