Some houses stay with you because of their grandeur, some because of the comfort they exude.

A six-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath property recently listed for sale in San Antonio is hard to forget because, aesthetically, it’s impossible to categorize.

Outside, other than its interesting shape and stone and stucco façade, the dwelling is fairly normal, giving little indication of the mad world inside.

Built in 1984 and currently listed for just under $630,000, the home is full of unique design choices that don’t appear to make sense together.

Most notably, the living room, which features dramatic cathedralesque windows that — combined with the wood paneled walls and vaulted A-frame ceiling — give off a feel more akin to that of a cult compound than a standard house of worship.

The striking interior windows are placed over two doorways on either side of its stone fireplace, and both doors lead to an even wilder room.

That next room, currently staged as a den, is something of a polar opposite to the wood paneling that precedes it. Surprisingly, it’s embellished with ornate gold wall panels not unlike the White House.

A spiral staircase, which appears to be placed somewhat randomly in the den, leads to an upstairs loft currently being used as a large workout space.

The gold wainscoting continues in an improbably large bathroom-meets-walk-in-closet, which mixes wood and tile on its floor much as it combines its dual purposes.

Ever wanted to poop in a warehouse? This is your chance. As yet another style thrown into the mix, a dark blue walk-in shower appears out of nowhere in the corner, which seems to have no visual connection to the rest of the room.

That bathroom is contrasted with what appears to be the primary bedroom’s en suite bath, which features an oversized tub on a platform set against tastefully understated tile.

Honestly, from room to room, we have no idea what to expect.

But we will take this over cookie-cutter housing-development bland any day of the week.
