HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A 12-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital on Friday night after he was shot while seated in his parents’ minivan in northwest Harris County, authorities said.<\/p>\n
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the shooting in the 8700 block of Barker Cypress Road.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the family’s vehicle, occupied by the parents and their four children, was parked outside a business while they waited for another family member to exit. That’s when, according to detectives, someone inside a dark-colored sedan traveling northbound on Barker Cypress Road fired multiple shots at a lifted black truck that was driving through the parking lot.<\/p>\n
HCSO investigators said the family’s minivan happened to be positioned between the sedan and the lifted truck as the shots were fired. The 12-year-old victim was then struck near his shoulder while in the minivan, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital, according to officials, where he is expected to be OK.<\/p>\n
