Mezzetta has since recalled a single lot of the\u00a0pepperoncini, launched an investigation into the situation\u00a0and contacted the consumer who posted the two videos, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/g-l-mezzetta-inc-announces-recall-mezzetta-brand-golden-greek-peperoncini-medium-heat-due-presence\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announcement released Saturday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mezzetta has not said where it distributed the affected lot and did not immediately return a request for comment. The product is sold in store at local\u00a0H-E-B, Walmart, Target and Randalls locations and online through Walmart, Target, Albertsons, Kroger and the Mezzetta website, according to the California-based food brand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We immediately took action to identify where the product was distributed and worked with affected customers to isolate and remove it from sale,&#8221; the announcement reads. &#8220;As our investigation continues, we\u2019ll take other appropriate steps as needed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two TikTok videos posted by @reizargt had racked up over 680,000 views as of Sunday afternoon. The user, who goes by Tiffany, shared the finding while making a Mississippi style pot roast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Public service announcement \u2014 don&#8217;t buy this brand of\u00a0pepperoncinis,&#8221; they\u00a0said. &#8220;I have a dead mouse in mine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mezzetta\u00a0acknowledged the social media video&#8217;s circulation and said it requested to &#8220;examine the product involved in the original consumer report&#8221; while investigating its own records.
