HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man was found shot dead in an alleyway behind what deputies described as an illegal game room in northwest Harris County, according to the sheriff’s office.<\/p>\n

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the 12400 block of Veterans Memorial Drive on Sunday around 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Jason Brown told ABC13 that a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Brown said the person who made the 911 call was anonymous and that no witnesses were at the scene when deputies arrived.<\/p>\n

“During the investigation, it appears that the altercation started inside what’s best described as an illegal game room,” Brown said.<\/p>\n

Brown said the game room was empty when deputies arrived, but detectives believe several people were inside before law enforcement arrived.<\/p>\n

While the man’s identity was not released, Brown said family members arrived at the scene and were providing information to deputies.<\/p>\n

Brown added that the man was found dead in an alleyway behind the business, but whether he was killed inside or outside the game room will be a part of the investigation.<\/p>\n

While investigators did not provide concise information on a possible suspect, they did say detectives were looking into reports about two possible people involved in the shooting. Brown also said detectives obtained surveillance video and were reviewing it as part of their investigation.<\/p>\n
