SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A San Antonio mother is mourning her 26-year-old son after police say he was shot and killed during a confrontation at a Southeast Side apartment complex early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
San Antonio police responded around 1 a.m. to the 3200 block of Bolmore Drive. Officers found a 26-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s mother identified her son as Sebastian. She described him as a kind and outgoing young man who lived with epilepsy and was well known by neighbors and children at the New Riviera Apartments.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe would fix the tires for their bikes. He\u2019d give them dollars for the ice cream truck,\u201d his mother said. \u201cMy son cared about everybody, genuinely.\u201d<\/p>\n
Austin Estero, who said he has lived at the apartment complex for seven years, told us he was trying to fall asleep when he heard an argument outside.<\/p>\n
Estero said he then heard three gunshots.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes me scared,\u201d Estero said. \u201cI haven\u2019t experienced it this close before, and it\u2019s scary to be in between the confrontation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police said a family was arguing outside an apartment when a neighbor came out and attempted to intervene. A family member reportedly told the neighbor to stay out of the argument and return to his apartment.<\/p>\n
Police said everyone eventually went back inside, but the family later returned outside and the argument resumed. Investigators said the neighbor then came back outside and opened fire.<\/p>\n
Neighbors told us the argument involved the victim\u2019s sister, though police have not confirmed what the dispute was about.<\/p>\n
Police said the victim was shot in the upper torso.<\/p>\n
Officers later located the suspected shooter nearby. Police said officers chased him on foot for a short distance before taking him into custody for questioning.<\/p>\n
For Sebastian\u2019s mother, the shooting left her confronting a loss she said she never expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy son is no longer here, and now I have to deal with his loss,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a tragedy because he wasn\u2019t looking for anything, he wasn\u2019t looking for trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n
She told us she was with her son during his final moments as they waited for paramedics.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe died right here in my arms, right here, waiting for the paramedics to show up,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
She said she will remember her son\u2019s kindness, his smile and his laugh, along with the relationships he built with people around the apartment complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was that last time that I got to spend with my son, and I\u2019m gonna cherish it, because he called me and I was able to be there for him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The family has created a GoFundMe titled \u201cSupport the Robles Family,” to help with funeral costs. <\/p>\n
