The butter sculpture \u2014 a tradition that spans decades \u2014 was nowhere to be found.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The absence didn\u2019t go unnoticed. Hundreds of Texans took to social media to bemoan the loss of their beloved butter sculpture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAin\u2019t no way I\u2019m paying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/arts-entertainment\/state-fair\/article\/state-fair-cuts-prices-22443903.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">State Fair prices<\/a> and there\u2019s no butter sculpture,\u201d one user commented on a TikTok video showing the canning display.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an outrage!!\u201d another commented.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The absence came as a surprise to the many Texans who have come to expect the creative dairy display at the fair. According to an article updated in August, the Visit Dallas website still pointed to the butter sculpture as a \u201chidden gem\u201d at the fair.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, expect a tribute to Stars, Stripes, and Howdies, the fair\u2019s nod to its own 140th anniversary and the nation\u2019s 250th,\u201d the article read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>State Fair officials quickly responded to the noted absence, posting their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DdxIkyagk7Z\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video on social media<\/a> Sunday to explain the change. According to the video, the space that the fair creates and stores the sculpture needed \u201csignificant repairs,\u201d and could not be fixed in time for this year\u2019s festivities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The nearly 1,000-pound sculpture is typically stored in a refrigerated workspace kept at a frosty 22 degrees.
