Morgan\u2019s Ice Cream<\/a>, an early tenant in the revamped South Main Village, will close as soon as Sept. 29 after six years in the nightlife district south of downtown, according to posts on social media.<\/p>\n

The shop will be open through Oct. 1 for picking up previous orders, according to the post. The shop definitely will be open to walk-ins through Sept. 29.<\/p>\n

According to the social media posts, Morgan\u2019s is closing<\/a> because \u201cGOD … put us on a new path and we follow where He leads! … Gods way is better, ALWAYS\u201d.<\/p>\n

Owners Jeff and Stephanie Morgan Brannon took over the ice cream shop from a previous tenant that had closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

They opened Morgan\u2019s in December 2020, one of the deadliest months of the pandemic. It developed a faithful following among area residents working from home, and among hospital workers and visitors.<\/p>\n

But South Main Street has become more of a nightlife scene in recent years, not as favorable for a family-minded daytime ice cream shop with flavors such as Strawberry Magic or Cookie Monster and a variety of non-dairy options.<\/p>\n

The Near Southside ice cream market also has become more competitive in recent years, with national brand Salt & Straw from Portland, Oregon, challenging the iconic local MELT shops, plus Southside paleterias such as Alma\u2019s and Rico\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The Brannons previously owned Dwell Coffee & Biscuits in Burleson and Fort Worth. A Morgan\u2019s Ice Cream location opened in Burleson in 2022 but closed in 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n
